Making Tax Digital Accountants, Christchurch, Bournemouth, and Poole
Making Tax Digital (MTD) is starting on 6 April 2026

We have prepared a simple guide for those self-employed individuals and landlords who will need to comply with MTD from 6 April next year. You may also care to read the HMRC guide.

Compliance with MTD need not be overly expensive, or even demand a lot of your time, but it does involve a significant shift in how you must go about recording the details of your income and expenditure, and reporting that information to the HMRC each quarter. In order to make a smooth transition to complying with MTD, we recommend you should aim to start running a MTD-compatible system from January 2026 to test the water. This will prepare you for going live in April.

We serve clients based mainly in the Christchurch, Bournemouth, and Poole conurbation, and across the New Forest to Southampton.

If you are looking for a reliable, conscientious, and qualified firm of accountants to help you with your MTD journey, then we look forward to speaking with you when you call us on 01202 47 45 45.

Let us help you prepare for MTD

The long awaited HMRC Making Tax Digital (MTD) regime affecting self-employed individuals and landlords earning over £50,000 a year starts on 6 April 2026

Self-employed individuals and landlords with a relevant income of over £50,000 must start reporting under the new MTD regime from April 2026. The preparation affected taxpayers must take before 6 April 2026 to enable them to comply with their new legal obligations are not particularly onerous, but it would be unwise to leave it until last minute.

You will need to choose which HMRC-approved software you will use to report your income and expenditure each quarter. This may in turn require you to change the way you process and record your income and expenditure in future. The level of support and guidance available should not make the transition difficult. Let us make it even easier for you to comply MTD.
